India ’s most significant achievement over the past 60 years.

“M iles to walk before I go to sleep” but India is a country that will never sleep because people die not the spirit. India ’s most significant achievement over the past 60 years is self awakening.

India's achievements during the last decades includes a robust democracy, strong roots of secularism, nuclear power, higher education, impressive economic growth and revival of many aspects of traditional wisdom

Today India is recognized as a super power in making. She is a proud member of the International forum and no one can ignore this factor .For example GATT or Support of Britain, France, and Russia for India ’s admission to the Council as a permanent member.

India ’s gross domestic product is the 5th highest in the world. It is one of the fastest growing economies in the world as a result of liberalization of trade policies in the last decade. India had been one of the few countries, which had participated, in all the military operations the Council had undertaken thus far.

“When the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom” were not only mere optimistic words utter red by Jawaharlal, rather it was his clear vision and today we are in the process of that. India today is acknowledged as the third largest storehouse in the world for technically qualified workforce. There was a time when we were dependent on others even for feeding ourselves. And today more than 2300 high yielding hybrid varieties of food grains and cash crops have been developed which make India self sustained in terms of food production..

In defense research the most remarkable achievement of India in the S&T sphere is the triumph over innumerable international sanctions to develop indigenous defense infrastructure Like The GTX-35VS Kaveri is a low-bypass-ratio afterburning turbofan developed by the Gas Turbine Research With its development India no longer has to go around the world begging for engines to power its indigenous fighter planes and launch vehicles. Sonars may be considered one of DRDO`s most successful achievements, years of toil has now assured that today, the Indian Navy’s most powerful ships rely on Indian made sonar’s.

Torpedoes, Prithvi, Akash, agni space research, Insat, pram and list goes on .These are not only mere words but there are her pride.Today the plight of Indian women has also changed in totality she is more confident today and handling more responsibilities .We have strengthened not only our FOREX but also relationships with the world

All this we achieved within 60 years by understanding that every person is a complete India in himself or herself and is responsible for his or her actions. He has to free himself from sarcasm, narrow minded beliefs, and casteism. And from all other ill practices which binge disgrace to Humanity and in turn Country, We may have loose our financial wealth in pre independence era but we have discovered our intellectual wealth once again. All other technical achievement has taken birth from this wealth only. Now we have to make sure that this process does not stop here but should go on and make India a super power.

    Um... United Kingdom?

I'd rather reflect on what India has yet to achieve. People here expected to be given a medal everytime they achieve something, half-arsed or not; that's the reason we never get half of what we start done.
