I believe a limited conflict to be Modi's final nail in the heads for indian voters before the elections in 2019. Recent surveys showed public is bent towards teaching a lesson to Pakistan

Security forces in Kashmir get high-tech weapons to deal with terror menace

To help the security forces deal with the terrorists in the Kashmir Valley more efficiently, the government has decided to upgrade their weaponry system with high-tech armaments.

The most important them are the robots which will help them trace the exact location of the terrorists holed up at a location.
The second is the Joint Venture Protective Carbine, which has been manufactured by the Ordinance factory board. The state-of-the-art gun has been recently given to the CRPF personnel deployed in the Valley.
The high-tech weapon has been prepared keeping in mind the joint operations carried out the CRPF in the Valley. The carbine is capable of hitting targets till 200 metres and weighs less than 3 kg.
It is also expected that the Armed forces deployed in the Valley will soon be provided with Multi-Corner Shot Guns, which are meant for special operations. These guns are the same used by the Israeli defence forces for their secret operations.
These shot guns with monitors which can trace the target even it has covered itself with an object, or is hiding behind a wall. Its barrel can be tilted up to 90 degree, and the laser installed in it helps in close combat operations.
Also, the pellet guns, which faced severe criticism from several quarters, have now been modified and will come with deflectors, which will control the impact of the gun.

8 wounded in 'heaviest incident of shelling' by Indian troops across LoC
    Tariq NaqashOctober 18, 2017

Eight people, including women and children, were wounded on Wednesday as Indian troops resorted to "unprovoked" heavy shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

"Indian troops started shelling at around 6:30 am without any provocation," Senior Superintendent Police Chaudhry Zulqarnain Sarfraz said, adding that the soldiers "targeted civilians" in Kotli district's Nakyal sector.

"It was the heaviest incident of shelling," Sarfraz added.

Sarfraz said that the shelling had left eight persons wounded, some of whom are in critical condition.

The injured were transferred to different hospitals for treatment, Kolti District Headquarters Hospital Superintendent Dr Tariq Mehmood said.

Sarfraz identified the victims as Muhammad Nadeem (23) a resident of Mohra village, residents of Dariri Pir Kalanjar village Chaudhry Khursheed (40) his mother, Motiyan Begum (60) and 10-year-old daughter, a 12-year-old resident of Dothela Balakot village, Fayilat Begum (40) from Dharuti Mohra village, Muhammad Rafique (60) from Androt village and another 12-year-old from Dabsi Naar village.

The heavily militarised LoC has been witnessing sporadic skirmishes and artillery duels for quite some time.

On Saturday, two young children were killed while three others were wounded in an incident of cross-LoC firing by Indian troops.

On Sept 29, three people, including a soldier were killed and four others injured by heavy shelling across the LoC.
