I think it's 8 seaking helicopter s of which 4 are upgraded and 4 with very less flying hours which should be good if we get it very cheap.

I don't see much of a point in buying 8 used helicopters, instead they should seriously fast track the naval helicopter acquisition processes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....you should see the amount of problems Canada had with these Sea Kings (operation, MRO and replacement) and how much media attention it got over multiple govts here because of that (and canadian govt own stupidity in handling it...but thats another long story).

WHAT A STUPID IDEA. A HORRIBLE MISTAKE IF IT GOES THROUGH. ABORT ABORT ABORT.

It will cost too much to Indian taxpayer and even worse possibly lives of Indian servicemen....because India is not even going to use these at the low intensity Canada did.

Please just have a clean break and full scale acceleration of MRH program to get some new birds en masse....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Flight hours logged may be low, but there are all kinds of MRO issues with these Canadian sea kings.

Please defer to Admiral Ackbar's sage realisation:

We need a deal with the OEM for 5 years of support for the existing fleet first.

We bought 6 SH3 too, and without a service contract, 5 were grounded by the start of 2016.

Also we need to take into consideration that the American, Westland and Canadian Sea Kings do not have exactly same and interchangeable Engine and Gear Box. It will only add to our problems.

If some second had aircrafts are needed, then buy Norwegian and German, they have Westland ones. And they are in the midst of procuring NH90 and AW101 too, so they can easily give up their aircraft.
