It can only carry light vehicles like jeeps, but not JCBs or other construction vehicles, fuel trucks, or helicopters. That's why it's limited to troop or palatized cargo transport mainly, while IAF has to use IL76, C17 and Mi26 for the larger stuff, even with low payloads. That's why IAF badly needs an A400/AN70... class aircraft, or the MTA, that also was designed with a larger cargo hold, to carry larger vehicles like trucks.

The ILs have still some years left, but we should have got a few more of course. However, one has to keep the cost vs operational need in mind. At nearly 500 million a piece (flyaway) and with hardly any strategic reach that IAF needs to cover in operational terms, it is a costly aircraft. IAF operates mainly within or around India and the loads rarely get close to the real capability of a C17. Which makes the large cargo hold size, the main advantage. But there are aircrafts now, that offer larger cargo holds too, with medium to heavy load capabilities and more than enough range for IAFs needs, at far lower costs and that's what we actually need to consider now.

The UAE has asked Japan for info's on the Kawasaki C-2 transport aircraft, which is one of the new generation A400M class aircrafts. It's basically a mini C17 and suit IAFs requirements too.

Of course we are in areas somewhat confidential, but we can say that the front view signature of a Rafale is the signature of a sparrow.

My question was in response to what was posted by @Picdelamirand-oil under A400 Beach operation video as stated above. So please take a chill pill and relax.......anyways peace!!!
