Came across this PDF, it is the trial report of Wer'wolf MPV in India, conducted in Jan-June 2000. It has information on comparitive trials with the OFB MPV, and gives an idea of how such trials are carried out.

    Interesting stuff

They really go after the OFB MPV :p (of course they have every incentive to do so given that it was a competitor).

Despite being a seemingly amazing machine (according to its makers), I've never actually heard of the Wer'wolf , nor have I seen the IA all that interested in it.

I hope that such comparative trails helped OFB refine the MPV significantly, it certainly appears to be a better machine today but still feels VERY outdated.

+ intersting also that the ITBP were a prospective customer but to this day haven't bought any MPVs AFAIK.

    About it still being outdated.

What surprises and kinda worries me is the less number of takers for the TATA MPV, it really seems to be a good one. But if I am not wrong, none of the forces uses them and itn't successful with the export market either............:-(

And if I am not wrong, OFB MPV still has floor mounted seats right?

Most of the issues are superficial/ergonomic for example pneumatically operated rear doors (OFB MPV still doesn't have it to this day). I'm also rather skeptical about the reliability of the OFB MPV, especially at altitude, it seems like it is very underpowered compared to modern products and I honestly doubt it has the sophistication required to operate faultlessly.

AFAIK the TATA MPV has been inducted (in limited numbers) by the CRPF but yes, it is pretty shocking how few takers there have been for ALL of these private entity MPVs (Mahindra and TATA).

By the way, OFB has developed the Yuktirath MK.3 that can supposedly withstand a mine blast of 42KGs:

If that's the case, the OFB MPV has come a long way. No word on whether the 250 OFB MPVs ordered by the IA last year were of this model or the previous 4x4 standard MPV.

I wasn't much worried about Mahindra's MPV as it was a JV, but TATA's did worry me as it was an indigenous effort :-(
