All those economic opportunities are fine. Do you think the persecution of various sects going on in Pakistan could have been stopped? Had Pakistan won its wars against India, would it not have only postponed it to later date? When there is nobody left to judge outside or if you can't judge people outside, will Islam not start judging people within itself? Islam had planted seeds of judging others after all?
Actually this will lead to religious debates, which I think you won't participate.

As if Pakistanis have any real voice in choosing who rules them. :D

Pakistan is run by a cabal, for the cabal, some in uniform, some not. That is the plain and ugly truth.

As I said before, Islam in Pakistan is not merely a religion, it is a very powerful tool of State policy, used very intelligently and ruthlessly. The fault lies with the cabal I mentioned above, not anything else.

Rulers are detached from religion that is the precise reason why we are seeing persecution of sects by general population. General population believes in Islam.
Cabal that you mentioned, don't you think it was because of them Pakistan came into existence?

I described Pakistan as it exists today. The reasons for its creation can be explored in another, more suitable thread, if you insist.

And don't you think what is today is the product of the past?

The Pakistan that was originally created ended in 1971, and should now be considered a closed chapter. What exists today came to be in its present form due to what happened in the surviving rump, which is a far cry from the original.

The country that calls itself Pakistan today is NOT the country called Pakistan that was created originally.

Pakistanis do elect their leader. Nawaz now maybe Imran in the future but then the military fed propoganda to the general awam on the threats that India poses to its existence is very hard to put aside. Hence the legitimate supermacy of Pakistani military over the civilian govt.
    The brainwashing is bloody brilliant.:D

I want to know what an honest and learned Pakistani thinks. Maybe he agrees with you. But what is the specific difference between the two? Isn't today's Bangladesh going down the same way?

Just call it Islamistan, and that would describe it all.

And what do you think is the root of the problem when even Bangladesh is going down that way?
