US student detained at Jagannath temple in Puri

It is pathetic that we demand equal rights and privileges in every corner of earth, but don't say a word when stories like these come out.

Govt should withdraw the tax free status of any temple that does not allow lower caste or members of other religions to not enter temples. That is discrimination based on religion.

    Religious bigots!!

^^ I agree. We have lost the zeal for hindu reform that we had during the early 20th century. It's time we attempted it seriously.

Correct everyone should be allowed in any religious place. Ours is a democratic country.

And why temples only?? Why not churches and mosques??

And what makes you use your own title?? Inferiority complex??

All religious institutions that are tax exempt or depend in any other way on govt should be made to do away with restrictive policies.

What title are you talking about?

Both Churches and Mosques are open to all. You must have a massive inferiority complex to pick on communities that are less than one tenth the size of the hindu community.

For your information, Hindu temples are assets to the govt. All major hindu temples have govt. appointed officer and the funds are used by govt. What tax exemptions are you talking about?

This is the last warning. Do not start the topic to provoke.

Trust me. You will not be ready for unpleasant excalation.

    LAST WARNING.

Donations to temples are not taxed, isn't that correct?

If you find truth provocative then it is not my problem.

I notice you haven't even offered to present your views on the thread being discussed.

    Escalation.

I will let the mods decide if this post yours constitutes a "threat" or not.

That was not the original title of news article. IMO barring people on religious basis is a medieval policy that has no place in modern India. Hence the title.

Donations made by individuals to any religious organizations is tax exempted. However temples are the property of the government and hence money goes to the government. Contrary to this donations made to the churches are also tax free but they are not under the control of government and hence money is used for conversion. They should be taxed. Dont you think??

Burning of quarans is modern?? So let the mods decide. Then I will use the same titles. Thanks

I didn't realize you were appointed mod recently to be issuing warning/threats/ultimatums.

I fail to see how it is any of your business, but yeah I am from India.

I have grave misgivings about your claims. But don't want to post an article on tirupati temple's tax evasion coz it has some unpleasant references.

Tirupati temple is the property of govt. Please post the article and I will debunk it.
