UTTAM Aesa Radar prepped for integration on LCATejas

UTTAM a multimode, solid state active phased array radar indigenously developed by LRDE has completed extensive ground trials from highrise rooftop testing to demo mount on Helicopter and now is been prepped for integration on LCATejas to commence flight trials. idrw.org was informed that LCATejas LSP2 has been selected to be used has a flying testbed aircraft for UTTAM Radar integration and once integrations are complete LRDE will take around two years for flight trials to completely test radar on all modes. Software coding for all multiple modes have been completed and soon LRDE will begin the process of integrating the software to allow radar to work on multiple modes. at present Three semiassembled UTTAM Aesa Radar were designed, built, and assembled for developmental and ground trials and soon LRDE plans to develop Three more fully/semiassembled radars soon to fast track its development. LRDE, before it starts integration process on LCATejas, will start integrating the radar with the rest of the mission systems suite.UTTAM Aesa Radar has target detection capability up to 150km and can track 6 targets with high accuracy suitable for firing missiles. UTTAM Aesa Radar once in production will be used on LCATejas MK2 aircraft while LCATejas MK1A most likely will be getting Israelideveloped ELTA’s EL/M2052 AESA Radar which already has been procured for Jaguar Darin III upgrade Strike jets.

Additional TR modules can be added (up scaling) can be done later after integration.

But the news seems too good to be true

Regardless of what the IDRW [Which I personally rate zero at credibility ] says , UTTAM is progressing well.

And it will surely take a time frame to complete its full development.

    And yes , it will be on " Tejas MK2 " .

Somehow why it seems like every defence related R&D and indigenous products are coming up fast 155mm Dhanush & ATAGS, Arjun, LCA mk1A, even AMCA is being fast tracked, etc. ever since Modi govt took over and Parrikar as RM. Even imported weapons deal like Rafale were better negotiated and fast tracked.

Was there a deliberate attempt by khangress to stall indigenous products to make way for imported ones and make quick bucks through kick backs. This should be investigated and culprits should be put behind bars. Gandhi family and khangress are curse to our nation.

The Uttam is definitely a class above the 2032s and similar to the Light Medium (110-130 KG) 2052s but it won't match the Heavier 2052s....

AFAIK the 180 KG 10 kVA 2052 is the best airborne AESA MMFCR for fighters the Israelis Have...

While the Uttam is far from that mark in it's current form.... Hopefully....It can be further upgraded and upscaled to that Level...A couple of decades more perhaps...

thats cos the defense minister (or any minister) from congress never bothered about actual defense matters (or any matters) other than filling up their own swiss accounts or getting lal battis set up on their cars or finding ways to destroy credible opposition parties.

Or BJP is reaping the fruits of UPA hardwork .

    On a serious note..

Did BJP increase salaries of R&D scientists to retain and attract new talent?

Did BJP increase the defence budgets/funding for any of these programs or organizations?

The only thing they seem to have done is

    1) Fire top officials to put pressure on the lower level scientists

    2) Put pressure on defense forces to accept indigenous products

If the above two points have indeed delivered results, it implies that the defense forces were corrupt to the core and/or the scientists were lazy to deliver and/or lower quality/ half-baked products are being inducted due to pressure from the government to show results on paper.

Actually I do wonder the same.

Did this Modi / Parikkar did jack for our MIC?

For example, Aero India 2017 showed a bright future. I am more interested in Aero India 2019, or 2022. That is when BJP government policy is going to shine.

I come from a INC/CPI state. Still, I root for development politics. Not scumbag ridden caste/ideology ridden politics.

Pardon my language @staff @PARIKRAMA @randomradio . Have bit too much scotch for my taste today. :artillery:.

Truth to be told, I am yet to see in clear policy change. Me and my colleagues are still hearing LM & Boeing names. Why? They are parasites.

NOTE: If anyone would like to say that I am not from India due to my language can go... you know what... as much as you please. Thank you very much.

Or the BJP govt is slowly cleaning up the mess created by UPA in the last decade. May be the forces now has no chance of scuttling indigenous programs to get some kickbacks from foreign vendors. Well how many scams has UPA commited?? Could you count them for me please.

It is the result of 'perform or perish' policy of Modi. Read in conjunction with the implementation of GoI order of Biometric Attendance!!! Hence the negative 'leaks' of the GoI!

The same is percolating into army in terms of CSD access!

Anyone not on time, looses half day's pay!:india:

LOL!!!! That is a big LOL!!!

7th CPC has taken care of that. The problem in DRDO is NOT of payment. The problem is, lack of performance oriented work culture. A fresher, maybe a topper of his graduating class in top Engineering college of India, goes with an aim to do good (and there are many young people in India who are highly inspired and patriotic to wish to do so). Once there, the typical bureaucratic laziness is quick to curtail their 'free spirit' .. there is no dearth of funding, there is a dearth in channelising the resources for objective oriented time bound project execution.

That sent the message of 'perform or perish'. Excellent infrastructure exists at DRDO. There is no dearth of pay and perks (and infrastructure) .... You can label it as '...to put pressure on lower level scientists' or you can label it as 'remove the dead wood'. Either way. Results matter.

On the contrary, defence forces want things done in house. But they want it yesterday - the criticalities have reached such a level. And that is being done - off the shelf purchase as even Modi realised that Indian Army is not yet ready to fight a two front war. So a stop gap purchase has been undertaken .... so this point is merely a herring.

Neither. Corruption is everywhere in the system. Every country is afflicted. The difference is the moral corruption in Indian Society - that is reflected even in the work ethos across the spectrum. You go to a private company in India - laziness, and worse in Government agencies.

The only problem remained the deliberate laziness in the system - all benefit from it. The DRDO - all are getting paid to not work (no accountability/incremental development over long gestation time period), the defence forces (and here you have to look at segmentally top down approach) 'do not disturb the cart' and 'be a team player' and be 'subservient to civil control' (and they get their pay too, so why bother in a fight that you anyways will loose!) and lastly, the bureaucrats - more power to act as 'middle men'.
