Really Afganistan "war" was not even in Top-20 of the late USSR problems. But yes, "indirect actions" are an only real strategy for India in the "Big Game" against China.
But are really need Islamistic pseudo-state in Xinjiang?

OMG, you still don't know what actually we discussing?

What are strategies. And what are plans.

Before commenting anything more, I recommend you to start some research what a China India war actually meant.

If you really mean "transborder skirmishes in mountains" as "wars", you, actually don't need any special "strategy" for it. Nothing offencive.
    In standart English
"War is a state of armed conflict between societies. It is generally characterized by extreme aggression, destruction, and mortality, using regular or irregular military forces. "
If one society as result of conflict will be eliminated, and another will survive - it's a "war".
As Brits said: "War is not about who is right, but who is left".
So, I thought you are talking about full crashing of China by India or potentional full crashing and occupation of India by China.
    I was wrong. Sorry.

    We should have.

At the first moment when China enter turmoil, we should invade Tibet and midwife a new country.

As you wish. But question is a still active - how many soldiers India can recruit, train and arm in the first month of conflict with China?

Military plans are made of political objectives.

When we already accepted that Tibet is part of China. Even Dalai Lama himself stated that Tibet is part of China, what they need is more autonomy. And freedom of religion.

We and Dalai Lama accepted it in a moment of weakness, and unless ground situation change, we should refrain from invasion. But when China enters a turmoil, like Soviet Union did, we should invade Tibet and make it an independent country.

This is important for our long term survival.

As for me, it was not "war", but "incident". Something like conflict on Damanskiy island in 1969 and some others. Total losses less that 10000. Nothing to talk.

2005 was a moment of weakness for us. China in turmoil ,due to economic collapse or some colour revolution finding roots, would not be one.
