I'm curious to know which fighter, would be preferred for IAF and why?

Please vote only after reading the following!

    LCA MK1A
    - 7 + 1 hardpoints
    - payload between 3 and 5t
    - speed between Mach 1.6
    - Uttam AESA radar with around 700 TR modules
    - Kaveri / Snecma engine with 90kN thrust
    - Litening G4 LDP
    - Dash HMS
    - integrated RWR and MAWS, external SPJ

    Mig 35-I
    - 9 hardpoints
    - payload between 6 and 7t
    - speed Mach 2+
    - Uttam AESA radar with around 1000 TR modules
    - 2 x Kaveri / Snecma engines with 90kN thrust with 3D TVC
    - Litening G4 LDP
    - Dash HMS
    - integrated RWR, MAWS, LWR and SPJ

    Additional Rafale F3R

    - 12 + 2 hardpoints
    - payload around 9.5t
    - speed between Mach 1.8 and 2
    - RBE AESA radar with between 800 and 1000 TR modules
    - 2 x M88 with 75kN thrust
    - Litening G4 LDP
    - Dash HMS
    - integrated RWR, MAWS, LWR and SPJ

Keep in mind that, the question is, which fighter is better for IAF and not about which one would be more capable? Factors like, training, available logistics and costs, should be included in your opinion.

Please vote and post what reasons you had?

But for what role? Comparing a light 13ton and medium 25ton fighter on same scale does not make sense.

    I would say
    • RBE AESA radar with between 950 and 1100 TR modules

No specific roles, since it's not about the capabilities of the fighters primarily, but to see the general preference, to each fighter with the mentioned specifics.
If you prefer IAF to have a deep strike fighter, you might vote for Rafale, if you think cost-effectiveness is the key, then LCA, if you prefer indigenous content, easy to induct...

Between the three, I will go for Rafale anyday. LCA should not have been included here as an option. F-18SH or F-16 Blk70 would have been better.

As I said, it's not about specific roles or weight classes, but preference for a fighter. People that prefer a fully Indian solution, might vote for LCA.

LCA MK1A can't be comparable with RAFALE.
neither in cost nor in capability.

Its like comparing Army commando to a Police Constable..

Bhai, Barabari walo me competition karao..

@Sancho I urge you to add another option.

" Separate HAL from LCA project ".

Rest the question is wrong. There is a definite number already decided for Rafales. And not 1 less air Craft will be bought. Same for Su30MKI and PMF.

Its purely now LCA vs F16 vs Gripen vs Mig35.

I choose Rafale but if given a choice I would rather vote for both Rafale and LCA mk1a as both of them will be do a fine job at their respective assigned roles in the IAF.

Rafale for deep strike and LCA for stationing at forward bases reducing the costs of daily sorties.

IAF had already selected their air crafts, so why this thread?

We should start believing in Desi stuff. Tejas may be a bit inferior than block 70 or Gripen E but two Tejas mk1a will always be better than these two. We can produce it in large numbers plus it is more capable than these two on high altitude. Rafale is another class. So we can have combination of rafale and Tejas mk1a.

That's why I asked for preference.

As said, I am curious about the preference of you guys. Three different aircrafts, with different performance and different indigenous content. So which one would you prefer for IAF and why?
