The Chinese import only 50% of their needs. And in case they need more oil, it will get a bit more expensive but they will switch to Russia or dig for more oil.

The Tejas has hurt India more. Had they realized the Tejas will be ready only in 2017 instead of 2000, we would have had a M-2000 MII long ago. We wouldn't have wasted money upgrading the Mig-21, Mig-27 and Mig-29, buying more Jaguars, and the Su-30 fleet would have been smaller.

Something called 'strategic reserve'. We maintain same too .. enough for 3-6 months right now.

What can be done about it? India will need atleast a decade of focussed capacity building to have an edge .... Idiots (politicians and military) sat on it for 5 decades and the contents are still sensitive!! Is the entire system so vulnerable?

That as you said, sheer numbers will make up for the lack of capability, but from our point of view, even a technically superior Phalcon AWACS is not an advantage, if it's available in small numbers only.

Yes that's what I meant by the "backup oil reserves".
My question was whether the short intense war is a war that lasts further than China's strategic reserves making them stop for lack of oil for their industries.
But @vstol jockey sir cleared that by reminding about the Chinese oil deal with the Russians.

Why is Myanmar doing this. I always considered them a hero for throwing out the British early.

A military article with 'Mays, Ifs and Buts' is useless. That said this one does have a point with the 'payload' analysis. Ex. IAF's air bases in J&K, UK and UP enable our fighter assets to takeoff with their maximum permissible weapons payloads. The author did mention about a crucial factor ie 'terrain hugging and masking'. What was missed on was that due to this our Sukhois can enter Tibetan airspace at will by stealth —something not possible to be achieved by the Chinese Air Force trajectories exposed naked on the Tibetan plateau. The Chinese know this a bit too well :devilwork: . Look at all the anti aircraft PLA drills in Tibet.

    Due to terrain hugging.

    Simple

    Deploy refuellers

Make fighters. Bombers take off with full weapons load minimum fuel load

Refuel them in mid air soon after takeoff

Where do think the refuelers will be based? You have not read Indian War Book. I have. Where do you think our over 600 civil planes will be evacuated to? What distance from border do we need to refuel aircraft to ensure safety of refuelers and how many assets will be used up for that job? Do you even know how your elbow is different from your ass?

Parts of point 1 related to logistics apply to runway. On highways too
