With final standard frozen, HAL’s LCH to enter limited series production in 2018

    HAL has confirmed that with LCH TD4, LCH airframe design has been frozen and HAL has been working on the Limited serial production of the Light Combat helicopter (LCH) soon. As per Industrial sources close to idrw.org, HAL has started to work on 5 Light Combat helicopter (LCH) which are of Limited serial production standard and first squadron will be ready by 2019. HAL’s LCH are currently undergoing integration of ATGM – anti-tank guided missile to demonstrate its capability while DRDO developed Helina ATGM is yet to enter production. LCH has been fine tuned by Indian air force and Indian Army pilots who have been specially deputed to LCH Program. IAF and Indian Army combined have placed initial requirement for 179 Light Combat helicopter (LCH) with Indian Army set to become the largest operator of the LCH fleet with orders for 114 units. LCH is specifically developed to operate at high-altitude and already has carried has proven its capability to land and take off from Forward Landing Base like Siachen.     will start working on 5 more LCH with name "LSP 1, LSP 2.. etc" currently they have TD-1 to 4

    This is interesting, which ATGM is being trailed, PARS 3? @Ankit Kumar 001 @Agent_47 @PARIKRAMA

    The signifcane of this is that the same ATGM will be intergrated with the Rudras that have already started to enter service with the IA and IAF.

    It's more important to meet the needs of the domestic market first- 200+ units are required of this type by the IAF and IA, this is a huge order and it will be a big task for HAL to churn these out in a timely manner- it could take as long as 8 years itself.

    We have bought some thousands of ATGMs to be used from MI35s and Mi17 V5 , in my opinion its the same.

    Seems no one is interested to supply A2A missiles for LCH and Rudra.

    Due date has been extended for 4th time to 27th march..

    USA offered its stinger missile for lch ...as India is also buyng it for apache

    I've read PKS saying that Helina can harm the canopy so can't be used. My argument is why not use a ejector pod and put few seconds delay on motor ignition to clear the canopy area.
    Or add extra initial segment of simple thruster to clear the area without canopy damage
