The 18-hour operation showed that it is possible to reconnect the spine, nerves and blood vessels, according to controversial surgeon Professor Sergio Canavero.

Canavero said that the first operation on a living patient will take place ‘imminently’.

Canavero said, ‘The first human transplant on human cadavers has been done. A full head swap between brain dead organ donors is the next stage.

Cadaver head transplants are different from Live human head transplants.
There is rejection of organs in living tissues in dead tissues there is no such response,The best they could do was Transplant a Rhesus monkey head to another it lived for 7 days before its body rejected its transplanted head.
Mice are small creatures compared to complex and bigger beings like apes and humans.
The sheer confusion and terror of a person waking up in a different body will likely drive them mad and get a brain stroke immediately and die due to it.
I am not saying it couldnt be done, it can be done, is present Medicine upto to the task i doubt it.

Is it natural enough to justify it?

Not Natural, but when did nature stop Scientists from doing such experiments? If they succeed or not they will understand the importance of Soul, spark of life which goes away once the spinal cord is severed. Many brain dead patients continue to live for decades if they are put on Ventilator life support, but they are dead living only on artificial assisted support. If Doctors couldnt revive brain dead back then, then, they cant do it now.
The Soviets conducted many such experiments removed a dogs head suspended it in some solution and tried evoking response solely on dogs head , the head responded to simple tests like pupil dilation tests etc. other than it, they couldnt do much.

I was following this experiment since it was announced, the experiment/ operation was delayed by 2 years as per the Doctors involved and would take place in 2018 or maybe 2019. I will get a mail if this operation was conducted, this article was merely sensational/Click bait for Yahoo .com i guess.

Doesn't this actually mean a body transplant? After all you are not transplanting your head but your body.
