I guess those are channel gate lengths of the MOSFETs or other devices in the chip. Not sure though.

Well, as you know cpus consist of transistors - they are boolean switches (true/false) that are able to distinguish from 0s and 1s. Smaller fabrication allows the manufacturer to cram in more transistors on a cpu base- (generally involves millions and billions of them)- this allows them to increase the cpu frequency or reduce the amount of power consumed on each clock-cycle- meaning the amount of power lost to process a single cycle of instruction. But again, this is just a general idea- they usually open a new manufacturing unit for every smaller transistor technology they invent. But there will come one day where they might hit a deadline- anything below 12nm will result in processing errors because at that point they are getting close to a size of an electron and there is a danger they might brush each other resulting in errors.

Motorola Droid Razr Worlds Slimmest Smartphone

Motorola has launched the worlds slimmest smartphone. The Razr is back with a bang after a long time. It runs on the Android 2.3.5 with a Motoblur skin. The Droid Razr is 7.1mm (0.28 inch) thin and weighs only 127 grams. DROID RAZR proves that thin no longer equals frail. It’s made strong with Kevlar fiber, while Gorilla Glass defends the screen against scrapes and scratches. A force field of water-repellent nanoparticles shields the phone against water attacks. It has 4.3 inch screen and Verizon’s 4G LTE network, piloted by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor with 1GB RAM.
